1 teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons red food coloring
In large bowl of a mixer, cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Combine flour, soda, salt and cocoa. Gradually add to butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Add vanilla and food coloring. Blend well. Distribute batter evenly among three 9-inch greased and floured cake pans. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Cool and frost. Yield: 15-18 servings FROSTING
