(note to Lucy: you do not have to include this entire list, we can jump it to the website – just cut it chronologically) Spring Plant Sales
Spring is so exciting if you're a plant person! Whether you plant a vegetable garden, a perennial border or annual bedding plants, this is the most popular time of the year in our area to plant. We have a lot of wonderful local nurseries that carry locally grown plants and transplants. However, Local Table wants to make you aware of some of the exciting plant sales taking place this spring. Many sales are sponsored by gardening groups and plant societies and are member-grown. You can find the unique, unusual and rare. This is boutique plant shopping! Some of the sales focus on herbs, natives, tomato plants—there's even a sale that focuses strictly on hosta plants. Buying locally grown plants makes for a healthier and hardier garden, as these plants are more suited to our heat and humidity, and can be more drought resistant and less susceptible to our pests and fungal diseases. This is not a complete list of sales by any means, but it will give you a great start on getting your garden growing for the year. Saturday, April 8
